About

Dialogue Scotland is specifically aimed at providing the key information to allow large companies without internal Scottish Affairs experts to make the best strategic decisions in Scotland.

Dialogue Scotland was founded by Arthur McIvor in 2016. McIvor, who was Chief Executive of the Scottish Parliament and Business Exchange for eight years, wanted to create a different type of consultancy; one focused on providing the insight and analysis businesses operating in Scotland really needed.

McIvor’s background in business and leading the SPBE means he understood that what many major corporations need was specialist guidance on the changing nature of Scottish politics.

McIvor’s own experience at the heart of Scottish political life during a transformational eight years provides him with a unique understanding of the changes which have taken place in Scotland in recent times and how this affects commercial strategy and delivery. His work in a non-partisan role means he has established relationships with key figures across all aspects of Scottish public life.

Arthur McIvor was Chief Executive of The Scottish Parliament and Business Exchange from 2008 until 2016. Arthur took over the SPBE, and transformed it into a successful and effective non-partisan and non-lobbying charity.

During this time the SPBE worked with some of the largest companies in Scotland, including RBS, Lloyds Banking Group, Shell, BP, Airbus, and Standard Life. Arthur led the SPBE’s programme of engagements, arranging parliamentary events, business briefings, and engagement programmes, all aimed at increasing businesses and parliamentarians understanding.

Arthur also sat on the steering group of the Business in Parliament conference.

Before working at the SPBE, Arthur held senior roles in a number of businesses, including Royal Mail Group where he lead multi million pound accounting management teams successfully; and supporting client relationships development for companies.
